Alicia Valencia is a designer from San Diego, CA.
Alicia is a furniture maker and researcher who works in public art, object design, healthcare, and education. Her work focuses on creating opportunities for thriving and play in spaces related to dementia healthcare. She also investigates the environmental and psychological impacts of products on human development.
At present, Alicia is part of the HOMEDEM Doctoral Network. She is a PhD candidate in Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and a researcher at the Expertise Center for Dementia & Technology.
Her academic background includes a BFA in Furniture Design from RISD, a ScB in Psychology from Brown University, an MS in Human-Environment Relations from Cornell University, and a Master of Design Studies from Harvard Graduate School of Design.
